For our twenty third monthly flourishing business community speaker series: stories from the field, the community is delighted to welcome Lyn McDonell, MA, FCMC, C. Dir, and from The Accountability Group, Inc. (TAG), based in Toronto, Canada.
The Flourishing Enterprise Co-lab is grateful to the support of Social Innovation at Georgian College to put on our speaker series.
Lyn McDonell is Principal of The Accountability Group, Inc. and helps boards and senior leaders anticipate their strategic role in today’s volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous social, environmental and economic systems, and then works to develop their skills and broaden their perspectives to enable effective dialogue and decision making.
Lyn draws upon her experience as a CEO, COO, Board Chair, and Director. She is a contributor to The Handbook of Board Governance, 2nd (2020) and 3rd (2024) Editions. Since 2018, Lyn has been adjunct faculty in the Master of Financial Accountability Program at York University. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Management Consultants of Ontario.
Established in 2008, TAG provides professional development in governance across sectors for boards and senior leaders that readies them for addressing contemporary issues with a whole systems approach. Based in Toronto, Canada, TAG networks with local, national, and global expertise to support clients.
Lyn positions her work as creating the conditions for boards to recognize the value of next-generation approaches like the Flourishing Business Canvas. While the Canvas is a powerful management tool, its transformative nature can signal significant change—something boards must understand and support. In many established organizations, its adoption may even require explicit board backing.
This is where Lyn seeks to play a role. She works with organizations across sectors that typically rely on conventional governance to manage complexity and fulfill their obligations.
During her talk Lyn will highlight:
- The limitations of traditional governance
- How to introduce new flourishing/regenerative concepts to established boards, including the attractors for this approach and its advantages
- Six thinking frameworks to add to the governance toolbox
- Opportunities not to be lost in shifting organizational governance
- Why board composition and orientation matter now
- What does TAG hope to gain from participating in the Flourishing Business Community?
- What can TAG offer to the community?
At the end of her talk Lyn will take questions from members of the community. After the event, a video of the talk plus slides will be shared in the “Speaker Series” space of the Flourishing Business Community. Please join other flourishing business leaders and become a full member to access.
